Shaun Murphy
Shaun Murphy is a nationally recognized trial lawyer whose practice is focused on serious injury cases, complex civil litigation, and plaintiff-side trial work that requires both strategic sophistication and courtroom skill. Over decades of practice, he has secured multi-million-dollar verdicts and significant settlements in multiple states, earning a reputation as an attorney clients can trust with sensitive, high-exposure matters.
Shaun is particularly well known for his work in cases involving the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, where he has obtained several of the largest reported verdicts in the country. His record includes major verdicts in California, Texas, and Washington, reflecting both the national reach of his practice and his ability to present deeply personal, medically complex claims with clarity and force.
Some of his notable trial results include a $6,753,600 verdict in Behr v. Redmond in Riverside, a $4,500,000 verdict in Roger v. County of Riverside in a defamation case, a $2,580,000 verdict in Moegling v. Brown in Tacoma, and substantial verdicts in Los Angeles, Dallas, and Houston. He has also secured major settlements, including multiple seven-figure confidential resolutions and a $1,000,000 recovery in Cielak v. Lima Taekwondo Academy.
Shaun’s work has also produced published appellate decisions in California, Texas, and the Ninth Circuit, demonstrating the depth and legal significance of his practice. His cases include Behr v. Redmond, Roger v. County of Riverside, Brown v. Montage at Mission Hills, Chemehuevi Indian Tribe v. McMahon, and Mission Springs Water District v. Desert Water Agency, et al.
In addition to his trial work, Shaun has taught legal writing and research as an adjunct professor at UC Law San Francisco and has written on evidence, civil litigation, and jury instructions. He has also been recognized with an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and membership in both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Clients who come to Shaun are often facing painful, private, and life-altering circumstances. What distinguishes his practice is not only his ability to win, but his willingness to take difficult cases seriously, prepare them thoroughly, and pursue full accountability.
